State Road 44 also runs East to West from one end of Citrus County to the other. Connecting Floral City, Inverness, the county seat of government, Lecanto and Crystal River, this highway has already seen the beginnings of development with a Super Walmart and Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse constructed side by side as well as numerous small businesses.

Some of the greatest potential exist where these main arteries intersect. The surrounding area of the intersection of 486 & 491 and the intersection of 44 & 491 are where the greatest investment oportunities exist. As Citrus County continues to grow at break neck speed with over 12,000 new homes built in 2004 and over 15,000 estimated to be built in 2005, the demand for commercial services outstrips the supply.
